Grace to Return
Their was a time in your life when you really loved God. You gave your love and committment to the Lord by serving, worship,
and giving of your finances towards ministry. You most likely spent some years in committment to the One who saved you from
your former life of darkness and gave you a real purpose that was full of joy and fulfillment.
Perhaps after some years of devotion to the Lord, some things in your life began to turn out kind of sour. Perhaps your marraige ended, your spouse decided to forsake their comittment. Or maybe you lost a loved one, and your grief became too great to bear.
Their are many scenarios that can produce pain, dissapointment and grief to any one of us.
Our response to these sort of life issues will determine our future course. If we become resentful towards God, as a result of what
we feel was an undeserved trial , we have lost our focus and have given into the deception that the years of devotion to the Lord had been in vain. When we begin to question God, as though He had a problem, our heart can easily become hardened when we choose to forsake Him.
As the Bible often proclaims, God is gracious and loves us with an everlasting love and diplays an unwavering comittment
toward us regardless of our response to the trials we face in life that we allow to draw us away from Him.
Their is an indication though that if we deny the Lord, He will deny us, But if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny
Himself. I realize it would take a trial of great magnitude for anyone who has know the love of God to actually deny Him.
He does although desire for us to learn from lifes experiences. If you have forsaken God and blamed Him for your pain,
you are not alone. Their are multitudes of people who have disregarded the call of God on their lives because they allowed bitterness towards Him to run its course, and the outcome I am sure has not been good.
Let's roleplay for a moment;
Perhaps you are that person that I have described;
Once in love with God with great intensity, followed with a heart of worship and devotion to Him.
Let us say that it was back in the 1980's. Your heart was on a course to follow Him without destraction,
and you worshipped Him along with the music that was available at that time.
Then it happened; you lost your zeal for Him because of your response to a bad trial.
Here it is, 2009 and you still haven't returned to the Lord, but you have a desire to be at peace with Him once again.
Remember the times when you were in love with Him and you seemed to always have a song in your heart?
What has happened is... you have lost your song, and you need to get it back.
The worship songs being written today are much deeper and more intense, and in my opinion have a greater ability
to draw your heart into His presence, Perhaps a deeper worship experience than you had some years ago.
My challenge to you is to go and purchase some recent cds of Hillsong worship, or Paul Wilbur's "The Watchman",
Song writer and worsip leader of World Revival Church, Dustin Smith, has an amazing cd out called "My Reward". Their are an amazing number of great worship artists out now, more than ever.
Begin to sing again, and I believe you can return to the Lord with a stronger love and commitment than you had before.
You can worship your way out of your pain. Sing to Him until He touches your heart, and keep singing until you know that God has heard your cry. No matter how long your heart has been away from Him, He is still standing and watching for you to come back to Him.
He will treat you with the upmost of grace and kindness, when you give your heart back to Him, where it belongs.
The outcome of your life will be so much better when you choose to live free from resentment and pain, and begin to live again.
If you know someone who is in this condition and in need of restoration, lead them to this blog.
God can use these few words of encouragment to begin to speak to them to return.
Portion of my book: Are You Saved or Deceived?
Many of you reading this have known the Lord and His goodness in your life, yet because of a major crisis or some great disappointments in your life you have been angry with God and walked away from Him. He knows you already and what you need. He is waiting for you just as the prodigal son’s father waited with open arms for his son to come home after squandering his wealth and forced to eat with the pigs. Perhaps you have a feeling that you are a long way from home, even though you may be close to your family. You may also feel that you have stepped over the line too far for God to use your life for anything of great importance. If you feel like that then you are a great candidate for God to rescue. Those are the kinds of people that He seeks out. The ones who know that they have messed up their lives so much that they don’t know where to begin to put it all back together again. He has the awesome ability to put your life back together again no matter how big the mess! God is waiting for you to come home to Him. When you make that decision, you will never regret it as long as you live. The story of the prodigal son in the Gospel of Luke chapter fifteen isn’t just about a wayward son, it’s about a loving Father who is looking up the road with arms open wide to the one who makes that decision to come home to the Him. He is still looking out in the distance wherever you are and waiting for you with open arms to come back to Him.
