Trading Junk for Treasure
You have heard the saying, " Someone's junk is someone elses treasure".
Spiritually speaking, God can use the "junk" in our hearts as an opportunity to turn us into a treasure for His use.
Without the dross of sin in our hearts their would be no need to be purified.
The Bible says that we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
We all have a need to be purified. Just as earthly fire has the ability to burn up junk,God has made available His Holy Spirit and fire to burn up the chaff of sin we have allowed to consume our lives. Jesus said He will baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire.
This is one of the ways to define how God desires to burn up the things in our lives that tend to keep us distant from His presence.
This process of purification cannot begin in you until you yield your heart to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
When you do you will understand the God kind of fire that He activates to purify His people. You need His fire and power to help you!
You may be saved and are still resisting the gift of the Holy Spirit. My question to you is........WHY?
The God of all creation wants to give you this gift, and you are still mulling over it in your mind whether or not you want His help.
That is what the Holy Spirit does. He is known as "The Helper" according to the scriptures. The truth is so many just become accustomed to live with the weakness that is persistent in keeping them living without victory. Perhaps you are content in accepting the lie about yourself that says." this is just who I am", even though you see no progress in your life and your efforts to resolve your sin issues are useless. Chance are you don't really try very hard to deal with your weaknesses, mainly because you have known all along that it really never helps. When you come to terms with your heart that God is the only one who can burn up the root of sin, then you can begin to trust in Him to do for you what you cannot do for yourself.
Then when God begins to burn up some stuff, you can look back at the ashes of the burned up junk of your life and know the freedom that you could not accomplish in your own strength. You must see that it is His love for you that compels Him to continue the effort to reach towards you to provide for you what you need in your life. The correct response to Him is up to you.
Resisting Him for long periods ot time can create hardness of heart.
Make a decision today to say yes to His outstretched hand to deliver you.
In my book, "Are You Saved or Deceived", I have shared my experience of receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and have attempted to explain it, though in it's realm of the supernatural, it is not a simple subject to express in human terms. It is good reading for the one who is seeking this gift and will encourage you to take that step you need to jump start that process of change that will give you victory over the power of sin.
When I was very young in my walk with the Lord, I became involved in a relationship that turned rather sour and was broken up, leaving me broken. My need for healing was answered when I began to call on the name of Jesus, since that is all I could say was, "God help me". I lived in an apartment complex where there was a large open field behind the building, with a large fence boardering another area with some very high weeds. The day my girlfriend and I said our final good bye, I was taking a walk around the field and stepped up to the fence, where I noticed some old junk cars I had never noticed before on the other side of the fence. Gazing at the junk yard in the midst of the weeds, the voice of God spoke to me very clearly and said, " This is what your heart looks like."
My heart stopped for a moment and pondered what a sobering thing to hear spoken to me that I knew was the voice of God.
It left me with an awsome feeling of peace, knowing that He cared for me that much to show me the error of my ways and helped
me to change directions to give Him the place in my heart He deserved. That was an opportunity for Him to begin the process of purifying my heart once again in some specific areas that needed attention.
What amazed me was that I could see the high weeds of sin trying to creep into my heart but couldn't see the junk yard beyond the weeds.
The Holy Spirit can make you very uncomfortable at times when you need His loving conviction to show you the error of your ways. This is His way of drawing you to Himself, when you repond to His love.
